NOVA PRIME INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
REPUBLIC OF NOVARA
Official State Arrival - President Marcus Thernon, United States of Thessara
The call came through the operations channel at 14:42.
“Eagle One is in Novaran airspace.”
The tarmac snapped to life.
Twelve hundred members of the Presidential Honor Guard straightened in unison, a single ripple running down the formation like a wave. The State Orchestra conductor raised his baton. The 21-gun battery crew stood to attention. Ground staff cleared the final meters of the crimson and gold carpet with one final sweep before stepping back behind the line.
President Rimuru took his position at the base of the boarding stairs. Beside him stood the Chief of the Novaran Defense Staff, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the full diplomatic reception party-motionless, composed, ready.
Nova Prime was waiting.

High above the airport, six Novaran Air Force Interceptors picked up the Thessaran presidential aircraft on approach and fell into formation on either wing—three to port, three to starboard-a guard of honor at thirty thousand feet. For four minutes they escorted the aircraft toward the capital, visible from the ground as silver shapes glinting beneath the afternoon sun.
Then, as Air Force One crossed the runway threshold, they peeled away in a perfect ceremonial arc. The aircraft touched down without drama.
Smooth. Controlled. Heavy with consequence.
It taxied to the designated bay and came to a stop precisely on its marked position. Ground crews moved the stairs into place. The door opened.
Every Novaran on the tarmac stood at full attention.
President Marcus Thernon appeared in the doorway.
For a brief moment he remained at the top of the stairs, surveying the scene before him.
The honor guard. The flags. The waiting delegation. The capital city beyond.
Then he descended.
President Rimuru stepped forward as Thernon reached the final step. For one brief moment, the cameras seemed almost secondary. The two leaders met in the space between nations.
Thernon extended his hand.
“President Rimuru.”
Rimuru accepted it firmly.
“President Thernon. Welcome to Novara.”
The handshake lingered for a second longer than protocol demanded.
Thernon smiled.
“I’ve spent months hearing about your country.”
Rimuru returned the expression.
“And now you finally get to see whether we lived up to the advertisements.”
A few members of both delegations allowed themselves quiet smiles. Thernon glanced toward the city skyline visible beyond the airport grounds.
“I think you’ve exceeded them already.”
The two leaders exchanged a brief embrace-the gesture of men who had spent months speaking through secure calls, diplomatic channels, and negotiations, finally meeting face-to-face. Applause spread through both delegations. The cameras captured everything.

Side by side, the two presidents turned and walked the length of the crimson carpet toward the reception podium, Thessaran and Novaran flags standing proudly on either side while the Honor Guard stretched away in perfect formation. They took their positions.
The Thessaran national anthem played first.
Both presidents stood straight through every measure, eyes forward.
Then came the anthem of the Republic of Novara. Its notes carried across the airfield and out toward the city beyond the airport gates.
As the final note faded, the 21-gun salute began.
One report. Then another. Then another.
The sound rolled across the airport in measured waves, echoing from terminal walls and disappearing into the distance beyond the capital.
Twenty-one shots. Twenty-one acknowledgments.
Twenty-one reminders that this was not an ordinary visit.
When the final report faded into silence, the atmosphere felt different. Heavier. More significant. As if history itself had formally taken notice.
The receiving line followed. Both presidents stepped down from the podium and moved along the line of assembled dignitaries.
The Chief of the Defense Staff.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Governor of Nova Prime.
The President of the National Assembly.
The Commander of the Novaran Naval Fleet.
Each introduction was brief. Each handshake deliberate.
Rimuru made the introductions personally, moving smoothly down the line while Thernon greeted every official with the practiced ease of a statesman who understood that institutions were ultimately built by people.
The ceremony concluded.
Attention shifted toward the waiting motorcade. The convoy was already formed. Outriders at the front. State security vehicles positioned throughout. Flags of both nations mounted proudly on the lead car. The long line of dark vehicles stretched back toward the terminal in perfect order.
Beyond the airport perimeter, thousands of citizens could already be seen lining the Grand Ceremonial Boulevard. Flags waved above the crowd. Children sat on their parents’ shoulders. Balconies overlooking the route were filled with spectators eager to witness the historic visit.
Rimuru gestured toward the open door of the state vehicle.
“Nova Prime is yours, President Thernon.”
Thernon looked toward the cheering crowds beyond the gates. Then back toward his host.
“No.”
A slight smile crossed his face.
“Today, I think Nova Prime belongs to its people.”
For the first time all afternoon, Rimuru laughed openly.
“A very diplomatic answer.”
The two leaders entered the vehicle. The doors closed. The outriders moved. The motorcade pulled away from the tarmac and onto the Grand Ceremonial Boulevard. As it emerged from the airport gates, a wave of cheers swept through the crowd.

Nova Prime received its guest and the Republic welcomed a friend.
