The country’s economic and technological landscape is defined by the dieselpunk style, which involves the use of diesel engines, steam technology, and industrial-era aesthetics, likely with advanced mechanical and engineering solutions.

Military Power

Population Imbalance: A population of 4.176 billion within the geography of Canada and Alaska creates a density that is physically impossible to sustain in a realistic sub-arctic environment. For context, this is over 100 times the current population of Canada, necessitating “mega-structure” technology that doesn’t fit our world’s tech level.
Military “Godmodding”: Defining a military as “unmatched in the world” and “dominant” before gameplay begins creates an inherently unfair environment. In a collaborative RP, no single nation should start with a “power-cap” that prevents others from having a meaningful diplomatic or strategic impact.
Mechanics (Mind-Absorption): Technologies that allow for “complete control” and the “suppression of all dissent” remove the internal friction necessary for realistic storytelling. This makes the nation an “unstoppable force” rather than a participant in a balanced international community.

Verdict: The Nation of Markenberg is currently too overpowered (OP) for this setting.

Looking back at those stats, I think we need to reel them in a bit more to keep things grounded. Here’s how we can make it work:

Population Realism: Let’s scale the actual population to 40–45 million. This matches the real-world geography of Canada/Alaska and keeps the North from feeling like one giant, impossible city.
The Propaganda Angle: We should keep the 4.1 billion figure as an internal state lie. It makes the ‘Great Party’ look even more totalitarian if they are forcing people to believe in a fake census to look more intimidating than they are.
Dieselpunk vs. Modern: Instead of ‘unmatched,’ let’s frame your military as a Massive Industrial Juggernaut. You’ve got the biggest tanks and the most steel, which makes you impossible to invade, but the older tech keeps you from being a broken ‘I-win’ button against modern systems.
Resource Friction: Making the nation resource-hungry adds a lot of depth. It gives the Great Chief a reason to actually interact and trade with the rest of us instead of just being an isolated superpower.
